Chicken Lady Fiber Arts is moving away from wools that are processed overseas. We already carry several yarn bases (Serama and Americauna) that are Made in the USA.  The happy American sheep are natural grazers and fertilizers - which make our American soil richer.  The fleece is then washed, carded, and spun in American mills and then comes to us in Colorado to be hand-dyed.  This whole American process is good for our economy, our land, and our culture.

In 2021, we will carry wools that are local to our fibershed.

“A Fibershed is a geographical landscape that defines and gives boundaries to a natural textile resource base. Awareness of this bioregional designation engenders appreciation, connectivity, and sensitivity for the life-giving resources within our homelands.” – fibershed.com

Our Mountains & Plains Fibershed in Colorado is based in Golden and includes animals, mills, and artisans within a 300-mile radius.  We look forward to working with local ranchers and mills to bring you a sustainable product that is good for our community and good for our planet.
